‘Medics Act!’ is a voluntary organisation that aims to help people in third world countries. Our team of plastic surgeons, general surgeons, anaesthetists and physiotherapist plans to operate on patients with deficits related to trauma and burns.
Trauma and burns related injuries can lead to massive functional and psychological problems. We plan to go to Sylhet, Bangladesh in 2010 to operate on these patients.
We also plan to teach local doctors and health professional surgical techniques and concepts of ‘physiotherapy’ Physiotherapy is poorly practiced in Bangladesh and if practiced can in some cases improve functional deficit markedly. Teaching also ensures that after our visiting team leaves Bangladesh they are able to continue treatment using local resources and health professionals
